Microbiome and probiotics
Our gut harbors trillions of microorganisms that are essential for our health and wellbeing. There is an increasing number of studies that associate alterations in the gut microbiome with the development of diseases, nutritional disorders and, even, mood alterations.
In DARWIN we work with all the technologies that are necessary for a complete microbiome analysis. Furthermore, we develop probiotic strains that are able to modulate the intestinal microbiome, aiming at improving different aspects of human and animal health.
From plague control to processed food preservation, microorganisms are the basis of many processes related to food production.
In DARWIN we contribute to improving agrifood processes through the isolation and selection of personalized microbial starters that can be used to develop products with unique organoleptic profiles. Furthermore, we develop microbial solutions for plague control, plant growth promotion, and to increase the shelf-life of different types of food products.
Energy and Environment
DARWIN is an environmentally aware company, and that is why a great deal of our work is focused on obtaining environmentally-friendly products and processes.
Biogas and biodiesel production, composting, waste revaluation or wastewater treatment are only some examples of the processes that can be improved and optimized using microbial biotechnology approaches.
DNA encodes most of the information that is needed to study and understand living beings. Genomics is the discipline that aims at extracting that information and using it to characterize biological processes.
From the detection of pathogenic strains to the characterization of metabolic pathways (antibiotic synthesis, degradation of toxic compounds, etc.), in DARWIN we use advanced genomic, bioinformatic and statistical techniques to develop all kinds of projects from a holistic perspective.
Founded by a team of scientists with over 25 years of experience in microbiology and microbial ecology, with the aim of bringing personalized microbial solutions to the market.
